8. Lostwithiel Trail

This was one of the first trails that I set and I still love it as Lostwithiel is so essentially Cornish.  Tin mining was such an important part of the economy and it was central to this lovely little town.

I know St Austell is not one of Cornwall’s more glamorous destinations but it had glamorous visitors even before the amazing Eden Project was built.

This trail allows you to enjoy a beautiful wooded valley and it is testimony to the wonderful power of nature that its extensive industrial past is now being enjoyed as part of this place and not just a scar upon it.

For black and white film buffs, the viaduct was used to film a steam train scene from the Robert Donat version of the film, The 39 Steps.

The green and white house has always made me smile – was it ever a clubhouse or was it just built that way?

After you make your purchase you will be able to download your trail to your desktop. The trail is in the form of a word document you can simply print out then start enjoying your trail.
